Humanity-Centered AI
and the Future of
STE(A)M Education
In July 2025, at the Western New York Teacher Center Summer Conference ’25: AI in Education in West Seneca, USA, we facilitated two breakout sessions for secondary school teachers.
We presented how the educator’s role is evolving from lecturer to facilitator, focusing on three functions: Curator, Not Creator (designing AI-enhanced learning experiences), Facilitator of AI and Human Collaboration (guiding students to work critically with AI tools), and Personalization Architect (using AI tutors so teachers can mentor complex projects). To demonstrate this shift, we shared a lesson plan that begins with an engaging hook, builds through reading, discussion, group activities, and worksheets, and concludes with Q&A and differentiated homework.
How these lessons improve classes:
-
Helping artistic students connect with science
-
Encouraging science-oriented students to embrace creativity
-
Merging physics (or other subjects) with mythology to spark imagination
-
Designing activities where students use ChatGPT for cognitive growth rather than as “brain-rotting” shortcuts
